I met with few people who told me that they really would like to write their own books and get them published, of course, but didn’t have the time or the means to do so or simply just don’t know how to go about doing it. I even met someone who told me that he started to write his first book more than ten yers ago but seemed to have problems getting it done and published.
If you are in the same boat as these people and would like to get out from it, and get into the elite group of writers and authors who have their names on books sold everywhere in bookstores, this article is for you.
I will show you how you can have your own book written and published in minutes. Well not really in few minutes but in a short period of time, let just say that in 2 weeks time, at least much more shorter than what you have spent on waiting to get it done until this minute, right? So, let’s begin.
Number one, give yourself a specific time frame to write all of the content for your book. By the way, your 2 weeks begin once you have all the content ready written in a soft copy. A very important point that you must do in this step is, to make sure that no matter what, you must stop writing your content by this specific time. Even you still have more thing or ideas to share, you must stop, period! Save these remaining or new ideas for the 2nd or 3rd printing of that book later on in the future.
Once you have all the content ready, the next step is to give it to your editor. If you do not have one, well just get your friend who you know is good in the language that you use in the book and let him or her proofread it. The whole idea of hiring an editor is to ensure that your content is written in the right structure, style, syntax, following the right standard rule of a particular language and the message is clear, etc.
Again let me repeat myself, if you cannot afford a professional editor just ask your friend to look for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and whether he or she understand the message that you would like to share with your readers and so forth. If everything is good, then you can move on to the final step, that is to get it publish.
Well, before you can publish your book, you need to find yourself a publisher, right? Yes and no. Yes, if you have the luxury of spending months or maybe years to find a publisher who will agree to publish your book, and no if you do it my way. Let me tell you how I did it.
Once I started the process of writing my first book, I contacted our National Library to apply for ISBN number. ISBN stands for the International Standard Book Number. It is a unique numerical commercial book identifier, assigned to each edition and variation of a book and every author has his or her own unique ISBN number.
The method of assigning an ISBN is nation-based and varies from country to country, often depending on how large the publishing industry is within a country. Here in Malaysia I just fill in the form giving the information about myself as the author of the book and about the book that I plan to publish. Within a few days, I get my ISBN number and, by the way, it is free.
After I got the ISBN number, I looked for a printing company that will print it. What the printing company wants from you is the ISBN number or else they cannot print it as a commercial book.
How about the publisher for that book? Since I already have my sole proprietorship company which only cost me RM75 or about USD19 to register, I just used it as my publisher. One good thing about becoming your own publisher is that you get all the proceed from selling of the book, whereas if you publish it through a publishing house you only get certain percentage for every sale as your royalty.
Then, how about the printing costs? This is one of the main reasons why not many people can afford to publish their own books, but I got this taken care of. For my first book, I managed to get one month credit from the printing company and before sending it for printing I have set up my own affiliate business and gather my close friends and brother to help me to get the books sold as soon as they rolled out from the printing press, and this strategy worked very well for me. My first printing was 500 copies at RM5 or USD1.30 a piece and I priced them at RM49 or USD13 a piece, that’s a huge profit.
Once the printer delivered my books, I have ready buyers through my affiliate business. I used the proceed from the sales to pay off the printing company and also as a working capital to run the affiliate business, and of course I also used it for the 2nd printing of the books. I just repeat the whole process again and again, and it worked very well.
So in a nutshell, it only took me a couple of weeks to get my first book published with my own ISBN number, whereas for most people who dream to become an author one day, that dream may never come true because they just don’t know the Simple Secrets On How To Write And Publish Your Own Book In Minutes.
Now that you know this secret, I wish you all the best in writing and publishing you first book and on your way to becoming one of the authors who can impact the lives of many people around the world with your writings.
